Job summary

AbilityFirst in Inglewood, CA seeks a Community Coach I to support individuals with developmental and physical disabilities in community settings. This part-time role focuses on person-centered planning, skill-building, and promoting inclusion.

You will work 9:00am-2:00pm Monday to Friday, assisting participants with transportation, activities, and documentation, while maintaining safety and compliance. Candidate must be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR and background clearance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Must be able to provide physical assistance including lifting or transferring participants.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred.
• Willingness to participate in swimming activities and assist participants in pool.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification and pass background check (LiveScan).

Responsibilities

• Coach and guide individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for community integration.
• Build positive relationships and encourage active participation in activities.
• Foster respectful interactions with community members and advocate appropriately.
• Develop and implement Individual Service Plans and assess progress.
• Maintain professional relationships with families and staff and manage documentation.
• Perform essential administrative tasks and ensure program compliance.
• Other duties as assigned to support AbilityFirst’s mission.
