Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator-Department Based on the Medical 5th Floor Unit at Elmhurst Hospital. This is a part-time (0.3 FTE) role with day shifts, requiring direct patient care and ongoing staff education.

The educator will mentor staff, assess education needs with the Clinical Nurse Manager, lead onboarding, and foster clinical proficiency through bedside teaching and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Nursing with additional health-related degree(s).
• Current Illinois RN licensure; certification as applicable and life support standards (BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP as role requires).
• Minimum five years of clinical experience in a hospital/academic setting.
• Strong adult education skills, presentation ability, and proficiency with office software and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as needed while delivering education to staff.
• Serve as clinical mentor and role model to new and existing staff.
• Collaborate with Clinical Nurse Manager to identify education and performance needs.
• Engage in unit council development and shared decision-making activities.
• Lead onboarding and competency development for the unit and system-wide.
• Develop and deliver just-in-time education and staff development sessions.
• Support specialty certification preparation and ongoing professional development.
