Job summary

Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries is hiring a Part-time Circulation Assistant at Worthington Park Library to serve patrons at the circulation desk and handle circulating materials.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of paid work or relevant volunteer experience, and the ability to pass alphanumeric sorting and computer skills tests. The schedule includes Sundays and weekday evenings with Fridays off; non-exempt union status and hourly pay are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of paid work or equivalent volunteer experience.
• Ability to pass alphanumeric sorting test.
• Ability to pass computer skills test.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with library card accounts and resolve account disputes.
• Proactively provide customer service by assisting patrons with PAC, checkouts, self check-outs, copiers, printers, scanners and locating materials.
• Answer questions and assist patrons in using library resources at service points including phones and the pick-up window.
• Receive and shelve materials with accuracy and timeliness.
• Check in and sort returned materials accurately and efficiently.
• Receive, retrieve, and process items for both incoming and outgoing delivery.
• Process various reports as assigned.
• Maintain shelves, perform shelf reading and merchandising.
• Prepare location for opening/closing by straightening furniture and shelves and restocking displays.
• Perform duties of Circulation Aide as needed.
