Job summary

MCHAP is seeking a Part-Time Chaplain to serve employees and their immediate families in Fort Wayne, IN. This role involves visiting worksites (usually weekly) to provide spiritual care, listening, guidance, and referrals as needed, with an emphasis on Christian values within an interfaith setting.

The position requires empathy, strong communication, and the ability to work remotely across client sites. Background checks are required; flexible hours may vary by client needs and availability.

Qualifications

• Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary group and in an interfaith setting.
• Effective listening and interpersonal communication with clients, employees and families.
• Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle aligned with ministry values.
• Diplomacy, patience and courteous interactions with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent oral and written communication; maintain emotional stability in stressful situations.
• Analytical thinking to define and follow up on objectives; interpret policies.
• Computer proficiency with Google Suites, Microsoft Office, and related software.
• Valid state driver’s license and auto insurance for servicing clients.

Responsibilities

• Makes regular visits to company worksites (usually weekly) to interact with employees and build relationships of trust and friendship.
• Provides confidential pastoral discussions for personal and family issues and coordinates referrals for specialized assistance.
• May assist in planning, conducting, or attending funerals and providing follow-up support to families.
• Represents the chaplain services to clients and employees, and participates in new employee orientation to explain care services.
• Responds to requests from executive leadership within the scope of the agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and client companies.
