Job summary

River City Science Academy in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Certified Teacher to join our Club staff. The role provides tutoring, homework help, and reading enrichment for youth ages 6 to 18, with a focus on helping members graduate on time.

We design, supervise and implement tutoring programs that align with youth development principles, ensure a safe environment, and promote character development. Hours are part-time, typically 2.5–3 hours daily, 2PM–7PM, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a valid State of Florida teaching certificate or National Teaching Accreditation.
• Ability to pass DCF Level II background screening and drug test.
• Experience with youth development and ability to motivate youth.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for academic development.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual tutoring and homework assistance to Club members and assist volunteers.
• Design, plan and facilitate activities around homework assignments to increase interest.
• Provide tutoring for high-risk students below grade level performance.
• Assist students with special homework assignments and projects.
• Become familiar with current textbooks and learning materials used by students.
