Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of NE Florida in Jacksonville is seeking a Lead Teacher - RCSA Middle to support members aged 6 to 18 with tutoring, homework help, and reading enrichment after school, helping ensure high school graduation goals are met.

You will plan and supervise programs, promote safety and positive youth development, work with volunteers, and report weekly progress with the Program Director. Hours are 2:30 PM–7:00 PM, Monday–Friday with potential extra hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a valid State of Florida teaching certificate or National Teaching Accreditation.
• Ability to pass DCF Level II background screening and drug test.
• Knowledge of youth development.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior issues.
• Ability to work with the public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality programs for academic development.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring and homework assistance to Club members.
• Design, plan and facilitate activities around homework assignments to increase engagement.
• Provide tutoring for high-risk students below grade level.
• Assist students with special homework assignments and projects.
• Ensure programs promote safety and positive environment.
• Prepare weekly reports for the Program Director/Unit Director regarding activities and attendance.
• Maintains a daily written schedule and ensures programs begin and end on time.
• Participate in local Boys & Girls Clubs education programs and competitions.
