Job summary

River City Science Academy in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an Extended Day Staff member to supervise and engage students in before- and after-school programs, ensuring safety and well-being in a positive environment.

The hourly, 10-month position runs from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday on school days. Responsibilities include academic support, homework help, enrichment activities, and collaboration with the Extended Day Coordinator and school staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 12+ months of verifiable experience working with school-aged children.
• Must pass Level II background screening.
• First Aid and CPR certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise student safety, well-being, and behavior at all times.
• Provide academic support, homework help, and enrichment activities (STEAM, arts, recreation).
• Maintain a positive, structured environment fostering respect and cooperation.
• Follow school policies, safety procedures, and incident reporting.
• Record attendance, enrollment, and emergency contact information accurately.
• Assist with light housekeeping and snack preparation; support calendar and supply needs.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
