AdventHealth in Shawnee Mission, Kansas is seeking a part-time Patient Access Associate. This role supports Medicare compliance, insurance verification, and patient financial counseling. You will register patients, verify eligibility, and coordinate pre-authorizations while ensuring top-notch service.

The position requires strong communication, accuracy, and knowledge of EMR systems. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus, with benefits starting on day one and a focus on whole-person care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred or high school diploma required.
• 1+ year of customer service experience preferred.
• Experience in healthcare or revenue cycle is preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as needed.
• Create accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collect payments or set up payment plans.
• Coordinate with utilization management for pre-authorization issues and provide necessary information to patients.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and obtain pre-authorizations within required timeframes.
• Register patients for services and ensure accurate data entry to minimize duplicate records.
• Collect demographics and confirm insurance details; maintain patient communications and documentation.
• Ensure coverage of assigned work areas during shifts and arrange relief as needed.
• Communicate between clinical, ancillary, and access departments to improve patient experience.
• Provide PBX coverage and perform cashiering duties including payments and reconciliations.
• Attend meetings and support team discussions; adhere to policies and procedures.
