Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of behavioral health crisis experience, preferably in ED or acute psychiatric care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral health crisis evaluations in the Emergency Department and inpatient medical units to assess concerns, symptoms, safety risks, and appropriate level of care.
• Complete crisis evaluations promptly and present findings, risk assessments, and disposition recommendations for clinical review.
• Coordinate with inpatient admissions when indicated, supporting bed search and referral processes.
• Coordinate with case management for discharge planning and outpatient follow-up.
• Develop individualized safety plans with patients and identify coping strategies and resources.
• Facilitate collateral contacts with family, outpatient providers, and community supports for safe disposition planning.
• Maintain timely documentation of evaluations and safety plans in the EMR.
• Collaborate with ED, inpatient teams, social work, and community agencies to support coordinated assessment and care planning.
• Participate in quality improvement and process enhancement activities related to crisis evaluation and discharge planning.
