Job summary

Family Dollar in Lakefield, MN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with opening and closing, help organize merchandise, and ensure displays meet company standards.

The role requires strong communication and teamwork, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and a commitment to friendly, safe service. Part-time position with benefits including EAP, retirement plans and education assistance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Retail/store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks; frequent walking and standing.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and show customer service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor as needed and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for storefronts.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, handling damaged goods, records (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits) and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect store assets and cash; adhere to safety policies.
• Support Store Manager in supervising and training Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restocked, and presentable; manage bathrooms, floors, and trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
