Job summary

AmeriCorps United Readers in Nevada is seeking an Elementary School Mentor to assist K–5 students with literacy and basic math using a fixed curriculum during intervention blocks.

You will lead small group activities, assess progress, review data, and coordinate with school staff and program teams to foster a safe, encouraging learning environment.

Position runs 09/14/2026 to 06/18/2027 on a part‑time schedule, with training and an education award upon successful completion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop age- and content-appropriate activities based on individual needs.
• Provide a safe and respectful learning space for children.
• Deliver and score assessments; review data to set goals for students.
• Maintain reflection journals and supplements from training.
• Communicate with school site staff and program staff.
• Attend required training days and orientation sessions.
• Represent AmeriCorps United Readers and UWNNS professionally.
