Job summary

YMCA Austin is seeking an Afterschool Youth Development Leader for a seasonal, part-time program at local elementary schools. You will create a safe, engaging environment and lead activities that support social-emotional learning and academic growth.

You will supervise groups, ensure safety, and follow curriculum while communicating with families to help children ages 4–12 thrive. Weekends off and a free YMCA membership are included.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older and high school diploma or equivalent.
• Availability to work weekdays 2:00 PM–6:30 PM.
• Experience in camps, childcare programs, or similar environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead activities for youth in a safe, engaging way.
• Supervise groups and ensure safety and compliance with policies.
• Foster social-emotional development and YMCA core values.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.
• Follow curriculum and adapt activities to participants' needs.
