Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA in Austin, Texas, is seeking a seasonal, part-time Assistant Site Lead to join our licensed afterschool program for ages 4–12. As second-in-command, you will partner with the Site Lead to ensure safety, quality, and engaging experiences for youth and families.

This role also serves as acting Site Director when the Site Lead is off-site, ensuring continuity in leadership, licensing compliance, and program quality.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Part-time role, afternoons 2:00 PM–6:30 PM, Monday–Friday (with some evenings/weekends).
• Must complete 30 hours of training in relevant areas; or 15 hours plus 90 days to finish remaining hours.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in a licensed childcare setting, or equivalent coursework.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus; valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Lead in daily program operations within a safe, organized environment.
• Support Youth Development Leaders and foster a positive, growth-focused team culture.
• Step in as acting Site Director when Site Lead is off-site; ensure licensing compliance.
• Supervise 12–17 youth and maintain appropriate ratios and supervision.
• Deliver and support curriculum including enrichment activities and academic support.
• Coordinate family communication, hosting family nights and events.
• Travel between YMCA sites for supplies, meetings, and trainings as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and assist with attendance, incident reports, and records.
