Job summary

Sunnyside Programs at P.S. 343 – The Children's Lab School – in Sunnyside, Queens, seeks a part-time Group Leader to supervise participants, support academics, and foster social‑emotional learning after school.

The role reports to the Campus Director and Assistant Director and requires in-person work with a commitment through June 2027. Hourly pay starts at $17–$17.50, with up to 21 hours weekly, 2–6 pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old or have graduated high school by Sep 1.
• Experience working with children in an after-school or summer camp setting is strongly encouraged.
• Position begins after clearances and requires online training to be completed.
• Staff are expected to be committed to the position until the end of the school year in June 2027.
• In-person work only; remote options are not available.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of all program participants, including daily attendance tracking.
• Assist instructors and subcontractors in the implementation of lessons and activities.
• Provide program support and supervision at all times.
• Provide academic assistance in the form of homework help.
• Supervise bathroom breaks and nurse visits, and provide minor first aid as needed.
• Maintain program areas, keeping them clean and organized.
• Motivate and maintain active involvement of all program participants.
• Attend all required meetings and training courses.
• Work with assigned team members to create a safe and brave learning space for all assigned participants.
• Meet regularly with supervisors and other staff to share best practices and address challenges.
• Document all medical and behavioral incidents.
• All other duties as assigned.
