Job summary

New York Edge is seeking an Extended Day Activity STEM Instructor to lead after-school programming in Queens. You will design lesson plans, implement curricula across program sites, and support the program director by preparing STEM materials and explaining safety procedures to students.

The role is part-time, in-person, 2:00 pm–6:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with days varying by site. Prior STEM teaching experience for youth is preferred and you will engage with students across diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• College credits in computer programming, engineering, education, math, science or related degrees preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with and among students.
• Teach or co-lead daily activities.
• Learn and facilitate STEM curriculum (Math, Robotics, Science, Coding, Tech/Engineering).
• Establish clear objectives for lessons and projects and communicate them to students.
• Prepare materials for daily activities.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet students' needs and interests.
• Support coordination of program events.
• Input data and prepare reports.
• Administer pre and post-assessments and evaluations.
