Job summary

New York Edge, the largest provider of after-school and summer camp programs in New York City public schools, seeks a STEM activity instructor to lead hands-on lessons and design curricula across program sites. This part-time, in-person role supports the curriculum and instruction team and the program director with STEM-based activities and materials.

The position requires Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm–6:00 pm in person, with opportunities to teach Math, Robotics, Science, Coding and Engineering while

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• College credits in computer programming, engineering, education, math, science and/or related degrees are highly preferred.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in a variety of STEM activities and have prior experience teaching youth.
• Experience working with children strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with and among students.
• Teach or co-lead daily activities.
• Learn and facilitate STEM curriculum, including Math, Robotics, Science, Coding, Technology and/or Engineering.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
• Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
• Prepare materials for daily activities.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests.
• Support the coordination of program events.
• Input data and prepare reports.
• Administer pre and post-assessments and evaluations for student activities.
