Job summary

Imogen Roche Foundation, Inc. seeks a part-time teacher to lead fun, STEM-based after-school workshops for elementary students. Focus areas include coding, robotics, and engineering. Hours are from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM during NYC public school sessions.

You will collaborate with a teaching assistant to implement curriculum, prepare lesson plans, and guide students through hands-on activities in a supportive, engaging environment.

Qualifications

• Subject-matter expertise in a field consistent with the subject taught.
• Patient, kind and friendly.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and exhibit creativity in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to use own initiative, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy.
• University degree (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Implements course curriculum and assists with its development.
• Works with teaching assistant to create lesson plans in accordance with course curriculum.
• Requests supplies from Site Supervisor well in advance of class sessions.
• Leads classes with school-age children.
• Supervises children during transitions.
• Supervises teaching assistants.
• Communicates regularly with Site Supervisor and/or Director about student progress.
• Plans, coordinates, and oversees culminating events at the end of each cycle.
