Job summary

Launch Math + Science Centers in Queens is hiring part-time instructors to teach afterschool STEM classes at partner schools in Astoria and Sunnyside. You will lead project-based enrichment sessions focused on Coding with Scratch and hands-on activities.

We provide curriculum and materials; a flexible schedule with a likelihood of extended commitment. You will collaborate with Launch Program Coordinators to ensure engaging and high-quality learning experiences for students.

Qualifications

• Subject matter expertise in related sciences, tech, or math.
• Passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids.
• Ability to code using Scratch is a requirement.
• Strong desire to teach children.
• Personable, friendly, reliable and communicative.
• Previous tutoring or similar experience.
• Flexible schedule and potential for extended duration.

Responsibilities

• Provide top quality instruction using Launch methods, curriculum, and materials.
• Engage students enthusiastically during instructional sessions.
• Help students gain confidence in their ability to learn and succeed.
• Assess and improve classroom experience.
• Maintain regular communications with the Launch Program Coordinators.
