Job summary

Think Together is seeking a Substitute Program Leader in Newark, CA for a part-time role. You will work with a group of students, provide homework help, academic enrichment, and organized physical activities using provided curriculum.

You will foster a welcoming environment, model positive behavior, and support students in staying engaged and safe after school. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3+ days per week availability, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children and ability to inspire and motivate.
• Proof of graduation from High School or GED required.
• Additionally 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units required or by passing an Instructional Aide Test.
• Ability to speak and write standard English appropriate in a public school setting.
• Available at least 3 days a week (Monday–Friday).
• Program start and end times roughly 1:00 PM–6:00 PM; times may vary.

Responsibilities

• Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment and physical activity using program curriculum.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters belonging for students.
• Support students in making positive behavior choices and enforce disciplinary measures when appropriate.
• Engage children and youth by following and creating lesson plans.
• Ensure student safety during setup, break down, and site maintenance.
• Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students per child safety guidelines.
• Take roll and review sign-ins/sign-outs for students and volunteers.
• Identify student needs and communicate to Site Coordinator and teachers.
