Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking a Program Leader for the ASES Grant to run a safe, engaging after-school program for TK–8 students at Sulphur Springs Elementary School in Canyon Country, CA. This part-time, seasonal position follows the school calendar, with afternoon shifts and paid training.

You will lead enrichment activities, supervise homework, and foster a welcoming environment that supports student growth, belonging, and academic success.

Qualifications

• Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with School-Age children in a group setting.
• Experience leading enrichment activities, recreation, academics, sports, arts, or other skill based programs.
• Strong communication skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Current EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain required certifications as a condition of employment.
• Completion of required health screenings and background clearances prior to working with participants.

Responsibilities

• Create a fun, safe, and engaging environment where children feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to learn and grow.
• Lead hands on enrichment activities, homework support, recreation, and skill based clubs that inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
• Build meaningful relationships with students, families, school staff, and fellow Team Members while serving as a positive role model.
• Encourage teamwork, positive behavior, and a sense of belonging by creating experiences where every child can succeed.
• Help ensure the program operates safely and effectively while supporting the YMCA's commitment to youth development, academic success, and community well-being.
