Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking a Program Leader for the Beyond the Bell after‑school program. The role supports TK–6 students with enrichment clubs, homework help, and hands‑on activities in a safe, welcoming setting.

You will build relationships with students, families, and school staff, lead engaging activities, and promote teamwork and positive behavior while upholding YMCA values.

Qualifications

• Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with school-age children in a group setting.
• Experience leading enrichment activities, recreation, academics, sports, arts, or other skill-based programs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with diverse families.
• Current EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications, or ability to obtain before employment.
• Completion of health screenings and background clearances before working with participants.

Responsibilities

• Create a fun, safe, and engaging environment where children feel welcomed and encouraged to learn and grow.
• Lead hands-on enrichment activities, homework support, recreation, and skill-based clubs.
• Build meaningful relationships with students, families, school staff, and teammates as a positive role model.
• Encourage teamwork and belonging by creating experiences where every child can succeed.
• Support program safety and operate in alignment with the YMCA's youth development mission.
