Job summary

Silver Knights Chess Academy is seeking an enthusiastic After School Teacher to guide elementary students (ages 5–11) through chess lessons after school using our curriculum in a small-group setting.

You’ll receive thorough, paid training and work part-time during after-school hours beginning in the fall. A reliable vehicle and ability to lift teaching materials are required, with duties including supervising classroom tasks and parent pickup.

Qualifications

• Must be available at least 3 weekdays during the school year between 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm
• Have a reliable vehicle for transportation
• Ability to lift 25 lbs of teaching equipment
• Ability to learn and use new software tools
• Experience as a camp counselor, tutor, teacher, coach, after school instructor, or in preschool or daycare is a plus

Responsibilities

• Manage a classroom of 10-20 students using our curriculum to teach chess basics and strategy
• Demonstrate piece movement, castling, check, and checkmate to students
• Promote good sportsmanship and supervise parent pickup
• Store and maintain teaching equipment and materials responsibly
