Job summary

Silver Knights Chess Academy is seeking an After School Teacher to lead chess lessons for elementary students after school. You will follow our curriculum in a small-group setting and receive thorough, paid training on how to help children learn chess.

Pay starts at $55 per hour. The role is part-time during fall, with duties including classroom management, promoting sportsmanship, and assisting with setup and cleanup. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be available at least 3 weekdays during the school year between 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm
• Have a reliable vehicle for transportation
• Ability to lift 25 lbs of teaching equipment
• Ability to learn and use new software tools

Responsibilities

• Manage a classroom of 10-20 students
• Use our curriculum to demonstrate and effectively communicate all of the basic rules (piece movement, how to castle, check, checkmate, etc) and strategy
• Promote good sportsmanship among students
• Responsibly store and maintain all teaching equipment and materials
• Supervise parent pickup
