Job summary

Norridgepk's Adventure Zone after school program is looking for part-time staff for the 2026-2027 school year. Hours vary by the school calendar: typically 2:45–5:30 PM, with early dismissal on Wednesdays (2:15–5:30 PM) at Leigh Elementary School.

You will greet, supervise, and support students, help with homework, set up games and activities, and communicate with families to ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and at least five years older than the oldest child in the group.
• Emotional maturity when working with children.
• Respect for children and adults.
• Physical and mental health that do not interfere with child care responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Meets and greets children and signs them in; ensures sign-out by parents.
• Relocates children to the correct location following rotation.
• Helps with homework and other school projects.
• Sets up and facilitates games and activities.
• Maintains a safe and healthy environment inside Leigh Elementary School.
• Supervises children at all times and interacts positively with families.

Join our Adventure Zone (school age) after care program! We are looking for part-time staff to work with our after school program for the 2026-2027 school year. Hours will vary based on the school year calendar, M-F 2:45-5:30PM (every Wednesday there is early dismissal and your hours will be 2:15-5:30pm).

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meets and greets children for our after school program. Sign in children once they arrive to you and make sure parents are signing their children out.
• Relocates the after school children to their correct location (follows rotation).
• Help with homework and any other school projects.
• Set up and interact with games and activities.
• Provides a safe and healthy environment for our after school children (located inside Leigh Elementary school).
• Ensures the children are under proper supervision at all times.
• Relates warmly to all children in a positive manner. Listens with respect to what they say, making children feel welcome and interacting with them in all activities provided.
• Responds appropriately to the individual needs of the children, recognizes special interests and talents, relates to home cultures and responds proactively to the range of feeling and temperaments.
• Encourages children to make choices and become more responsible.
• Interacts with children to help them learn.
• Uses positive techniques to guide the behavior of children.
• Interacts with families in a positive manner.

PHYSICAL Constraints Required Include:

• To hear the conversational voice with or without a hearing aid.
• The ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses.
• To speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
• To lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
