We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Assistant Teacher to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children after school. This role requires someone who is passionate about working with children, committed to their well-being, and able to facilitate activities that promote social, emotional, and academic development. The ideal candidate should be dependable, patient, and enthusiastic, with a love for fostering positive relationships with children.
Supervise and Ensure Safety: Monitor children closely, ensuring their safety and well-being during aftercare hours.
Facilitate Activities: Plan and lead fun, educational, and creative activities, including arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, and homework assistance.
Assist with Homework: Provide support and guidance as needed to help children with their homework assignments.
Maintain a Positive Environment: Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive atmosphere where children feel valued and comfortable.
Communicate with Parents: Update parents on their child's day, behavior, and any important concerns or achievements.
Collaborate with Staff: Work with other aftercare teachers and school staff to ensure a consistent and cohesive aftercare experience for all children.
Enforce Rules and Expectations: Help children understand and follow the rules, ensuring that all children behave in a respectful and appropriate manner.
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience working with children in a school or aftercare setting preferred.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage children effectively.
A reliable, punctual, and responsible attitude.
Passion for working with children and helping them thrive.
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Ability to remain calm and patient in dynamic situations.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with children and parents alike.
Positive, encouraging, and empathetic attitude.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.
