Job summary

UMC Health System in Texas seeks a part-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for the UMC Gastroenterology team. The APP will work with a family of physicians, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care with autonomy and collaboration.

Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and managing care, plus prescribing medications and tests, with weekend 4-hour shifts and 9 AM–3 PM Saturday/Sunday availability.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
• Must be in good standing with the State of Texas Medical Board or Texas Board of Nursing; or the ability to obtain or transfer your license to Texas.
• BSN or MSN degree and successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or accredited Nursing Practitioner program.
• Basic Life Support certification

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat medical conditions of/for patients.
• Prescribes medication and medical testing; reviews and interprets test results; takes and records histories and physical examinations; communicates with physicians regarding patient care and follow-up.
• Directs patient care including but not limited to: examine, diagnose, treat medical conditions of/for patients
• Maintains accurate patient records in a timely and organized manner.
• Collaborates with physicians to review patient health records and ensure quality of care.
• Participates in appropriate Quality Improvement initiatives for the clinic.
