Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas, TX seeks a Physician Assistant – Medical Specialty for outpatient gastroenterology care. The APP provides independent, credentialed care with supervised physicians, focusing on evaluation, management and procedures within a specialty clinic.

Responsibilities include patient assessments, diagnostics interpretation, treatment planning, medications, and education. Strong teamwork with multidisciplinary staff and commitment to evidence-based care are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Prefer more than 1 year of gastroenterology or outpatient specialty experience.
• Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas.
• NCCPA certification.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive or focused patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions in an outpatient setting.
• Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and recommend therapeutic interventions in accordance with scope of practice.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, nutrition, and preventive care.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation.
• Initiate referrals or consultations when patient needs exceed scope of practice.
• Provide specialty-level consultation services based on training and experience.
