Job summary

The City of Cleburne seeks an Adoption Coordinator to oversee animal adoption and rescue-placement activities, boosting live outcomes and reducing length of stay. This role develops ties with rescues and fosters, counsels adopters, and coordinates events and transfers.

You will maintain placement records and lead volunteers while supporting shelter operations. Under supervision, you’ll manage communications with partners, promote animals, and help with daily shelter duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus two years experience in animal sheltering or related field
• Knowledge of humane animal care and shelter operations
• Ability to counsel adopters and coordinate placements
• Ability to manage volunteers and community outreach
• Familiarity with animal-control laws and city policies

Responsibilities

• Coordinate animal adoption and rescue-placement activities to increase live outcomes
• Develop relationships with rescue and foster organizations and promote available animals
• Counsel prospective adopters and coordinate adoption events and transfers
• Maintain accurate placement, medical, and operational records
• Provide lead direction to volunteers and shelter staff
• Assist with animal care and shelter operations as needed
