Job summary

The Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking qualified part-time Audio/Visual Technicians to support a wide range of programs, events, and classes. This on-site role involves setup, operation, and breakdown of audio/visual equipment for events, with a focus on reliability and safety.

Ideal candidates will have experience in lighting, sound, projection, video, and streaming, strong communication, and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience in lighting, sound, projection, video, streaming, or performance.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work with visitors and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or elevated platforms.
• Commitment to safety and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and breakdown AV equipment for events.
• Serve as on-site contact for scheduled events at ICA.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during events to minimize disruption.
• Assist with lighting, sound, projection, video, streaming, and stage management as needed.
