Job summary

The Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking qualified part-time Audio/Visual (A/V) Technicians to support the ICA's programs, events, and classes. This position requires baseline knowledge and interest in lighting, sound, projection, video, streaming, and stage management.

A/V Technicians act as on-site contacts for events, responsible for setup, operation, and breakdown of equipment, and for troubleshooting during performances.

Qualifications

• Experience in lighting, sound, projection, video, streaming, or performance.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work with visitors and diverse teams.
• Willingness to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Flexible to work some nights and weekends.
• Commitment to safety in live venues.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders/raises.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and breakdown AV equipment for events.
• Act as on-site point of contact for scheduled events.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during events to maintain smooth operations.
• Coordinate with staff and visitors to ensure successful programs.
