Duties & Responsibilities:

Audio/VisualTechnician

Institute for Contemporary Art

The Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) at Virginia CommonwealthUniversity is seeking qualified part-time Audio/Visual (A/V)Technicians to support the ICA's wide array of programs, events,and classes. This position requires baseline knowledge andinterestversatility in lighting, sound, projection, video,streaming, and stage management. A/V Technicians act as an on-sitepoint of contact for any event they are scheduled for, responsiblefor tracking, setup, operation, and breakdown of all necessaryequipment. A/V Technicians maintain a level head whentroubleshooting and solving any technical issues that may ariseduring an event. More than one hire could be made from this postingannouncement.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the followingdisciplines: lighting, sound, projection, video, streaming, orperformance
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with visitors, clients, and other workers fromall backgrounds
  • Must be able to proactively and creatively problem solve
  • Flexibility to work some nights and weekends
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment; basicknowledge of fire safety, fall safety, and other hazards inherentto live performance venues.
  • Ability to work with equipment weighing up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work confidently on ladders, personnel lifts, andcatwalks
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as an employee of VCU
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or the equivalentcombination of education, technical training, and professionalexperience
  • Experience with pre-performance, performance, andpost-performance activities
  • Experience with recording and post-production editing of audioand video
  • Experience with or Interest in working in a creativeenvironment and/or with contemporary art
Salary Range:

$20/hour
