Job summary

The Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking qualified part-time Audio/Visual Technicians to support a wide array of programs, events, and classes. This on-site role requires versatility across lighting, sound, projection, video, streaming, and stage management, with events that may run evenings or weekends.

Technicians act as on-site contacts for events, handling setup, operation, and breakdown while maintaining safety and professionalism.

Qualifications

Minimum experience in lighting, sound, projection, video, streaming, or performance.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work with visitors and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Willingness to work nights and weekends.
Safety awareness for live performance venues and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and work on catwalks.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and breakdown lighting, sound, projection, video and streaming equipment.
Serve as on-site point of contact for scheduled events.
Troubleshoot technical issues to support smooth performances.
Track equipment and ensure safety and orderly event flow.
