Job summary

The Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Office is seeking a reliable, dedicated Emergency Dispatcher to join as a part-time role. Dispatchers are the first point of contact for the public during emergencies and are responsible for dispatching law enforcement, fire, and EMS units.

Key responsibilities include receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls, providing pre-arrival instructions, maintaining logs, and coordinating with emergency responders.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm in high-stress situations.
• Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn dispatching software.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls via phone and radio.
• Dispatch appropriate emergency services to incidents using radio, telephone, and CAD systems.
• Provide pre-arrival instructions and support to callers in emergencies.
• Maintain accurate logs and records of all calls and dispatches.
