Wallowa County seeks a dependable 911 Emergency Communications Dispatcher to serve as the first point of contact for citizens needing emergency assistance. The role requires calm, clear communication and the ability to prioritize and dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS resources promptly.

Responsibilities include handling emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering critical information, operating multi-function dispatch systems, and maintaining accurate records while upholding

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Typing speed of 40 wpm preferred.
• Complete required pre-employment testing (written, oral, typing, multitasking).
• Successful background investigation including fingerprinting and drug screening.
• Meet Oregon DPSST requirements and medical standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls and radio communications.
• Obtain accurate information from callers in crisis.
• Evaluate information, determine priorities, and dispatch police, fire, and medical resources.
• Operate dispatch systems and maintain records.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Work in a 24/7 public safety environment with shifting priorities.
