Job summary

The City of Charles Town seeks a Parks and Recreation Manager to lead city-wide parks, recreation and leisure services, supervise staff, coordinate events, and oversee facilities, grounds and programs in partnership with the Maintenance team.

The role develops park policies, manages budgets, pursues grants, and implements a new pool membership system, with a bachelor's degree and four years' experience in the field; evening meetings are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Public Administration or related field required.
• Four years of Parks and Recreation experience or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide managerial leadership and financial direction for city parks, recreation and leisure services.
• Analyze program effectiveness and supervise traditional recreation programs.
• Assist in department budget preparation and oversee expenditures.
• Supervise personnel and resources to meet community needs.
• Oversee beautification, landscape maintenance and city facilities.
• Directly supervise staff and contractors across divisions and programs.
• Attend professional seminars and meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
