Job summary

City of Independence is seeking a Recreation Programs Manager to oversee daily operations, create and evaluate programs, supervise staff and coordinate partnerships with community groups and sponsors.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation or related field and relevant experience; a valid driver’s license is expected, with CPR/AED/First Aid certifications within six months of hire. Evening/weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation or related field.
• One year of experience in related duties, or five years for level II.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the public to instruct classes and respond to inquiries.
• Supervise part-time and seasonal staff and interns.
• Coordinate program scheduling, equipment, and supplies.
• Develop new recreation programs and evaluate existing ones.
• Collaborate with community groups and sponsors.
