Job summary

The City of Anderson is seeking a seasoned Recreation Manager to oversee all department operations, including budgeting, program development, facilities maintenance, and staff supervision. You will coordinate community programs, evaluate services, and represent the department in public forums.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Parks and Recreation (or related field), plus experience in budget prep, grant applications, and staff leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field.
• Experience with budget preparation and grant applications.
• Ability to hire, direct, supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Certification in first aid, lifesaving, and as a Pool Operator.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Oversees all recreation operations including revenue and expenditure activities, payroll, maintenance of facilities, evaluation of programs and employees.
• Assesses community needs and submits proposals for programs.
• Promotes recreation programs by delivering speeches, designing brochures, and writing news releases.
