Job summary

Galveston County Parks & Cultural Services seeks a Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and operations of the county parks system. You will lead staff, coordinate schedules, and ensure upkeep of grounds and facilities.

Responsibilities include weekly park inspections, contractor oversight, inventory tracking, and pesticide/herbicide application supervision. A valid driver’s license and a pesticide license within six months are required.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Requires two years of experience in building and/or grounds maintenance or closely related experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license; driving record must meet acceptable standards.
• Requires Texas non-commercial pesticide license within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; manages employee concerns and performance.
• Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work; sets schedules and monitors progress.
• Oversees park maintenance activities and grounds/facilities upkeep.
• Conducts weekly park inspections.
• Monitors contractors’ activity on site.
• Keeps inventory of supplies and places orders as needed.
• Performs general grounds maintenance when required.
• Supervises pesticide and herbicide applications.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
