Job summary

Galveston County is seeking a Park Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the County parks system's maintenance and operations. The role supervises staff, directs work, and ensures safety and quality standards across grounds and facilities.

The successful candidate will conduct weekly park inspections, manage schedules, monitor contractors, and coordinate pesticide/ herbicide applications, while maintaining inventory and performing general grounds tasks as needed. Equal opportunity employer.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Requires two years of experience in building and/or grounds maintenance or closely related experience.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. The work is typically performed in a motor vehicle and outdoor setting. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects. The work is typically performed in the field including possible inclement weather conditions. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devises such as masks, eye protection, gloves etc.

Special Certifications and Licenses

• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
• Requires Texas Department of Agriculture non-commercial pesticide license within six months of employment.
