Job summary

Galveston County is seeking a Park Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the County parks system's maintenance and operations. The role supervises staff, directs work, and ensures safety and quality standards across grounds and facilities.

The successful candidate will conduct weekly park inspections, manage schedules, monitor contractors, and coordinate pesticide/ herbicide applications, while maintaining inventory and performing general grounds tasks as needed. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Ability to train, coach, and evaluate staff effectively.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
• Coordinates, assigns, reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Coordinates park maintenance activities and crews, including grounds and facility maintenance.
• Conducts weekly inspections of parks.
• Monitors contractors' activity.
• Tracks inventory of supplies and orders as needed.
• Performs general grounds maintenance work if needed.
• Supervises pesticide and herbicide applications.
• Performs related work as assigned.
