Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government seeks a supervisory parks maintenance professional to oversee daily, weekly, and monthly upkeep of parks and recreational facilities. You will plan schedules, supervise crews including inmate labor, and ensure equipment maintenance and safety compliance.

The role requires knowledge of grounds maintenance, athletic facility upkeep, and strong management, reporting, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance principles, practices, techniques, and equipment.
• Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in park maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of athletic facilities.
• Skill in problem solving and decision making.
• Skill in management and supervision.
• Skill in the preparation of reports and records.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Plans and directs the implementation of daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules.
• Analyzes equipment requirements and makes recommendations for purchases.
• Attends meetings and conferences to discuss current work problems, policy changes, work orders, safety guidelines, and related matters.
• Receives and acts upon requests or complaints from other departments and the general public.
• Plans, assigns, directs, and supervises work crews engaged in parks maintenance projects; supervises the maintenance of equipment.
• Supervises the work of inmate laborers.
• Inspects playground equipment; supervises necessary repairs.
• Supervises the repair of windows, doors, and roofs; supervises and performs carpentry duties in the repair and renovation of park facilities.
• Coordinates the preparation and maintenance of athletic fields before and after sporting events.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
