Job summary

City of St. Joseph is seeking a Work Crew Supervisor to oversee a crew of inmate workers maintaining city parks, boulevards, and facilities.

The role serves as liaison between the Parks, Recreation & Civic Facilities Department and the Western Reception Diagnostic Correctional Center, guiding work and ensuring safety and compliance. Responsibilities include assigning daily tasks, managing equipment and transportation, and providing direction on methods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One to three years of related work experience preferred.
• CDL required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and maintenance tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inmate work release crew and ensure compliance with WRDCC rules.
• Attend required supervisor training and maintain WRDCC status.
• Direct mowing, trimming, and park system maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate equipment and transportation for assignments.
• Provide clear work methods and safety guidance to crew.
• Assist in carpentry, painting, plumbing, and concrete work as needed.
