Job summary

The Town of Chapel Hill is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker to care for town facilities, parks, cemeteries, and rights of way. You will perform mowing, edging, pruning, irrigation maintenance, and assist with special events and storm cleanup.

You'll operate a range of landscape equipment, maintain turf and plantings, and follow safety guidelines. A high school diploma and valid NC driver's license are required; experience is preferred and specialist certifications may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience preferred.
• Specialist certifications: Pesticide License and Playground Inspector.
• Valid NC drivers license required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain landscape and grounds of town facilities, rights of way, parks, cemeteries, and trails.
• Set up, monitor, and perform minor irrigation repairs.
• Assist in events, storm cleanup, snow/ice removal, leaves, and mulching.
• Maintain turf and plantings; water, fertilize, aerate, prune, and mulch.
• Operate vehicles and equipment following manuals and safety rules.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
