Job summary

County of Davidson is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform maintenance and upkeep of the grounds and facilities at county parks and the West Center Street Campus. You will manage landscaping, mowing, litter removal, and field preparation for games under supervision.

Requirements include a High School graduate with landscaping/equipment repair experience, a valid North Carolina Driver License, ability to operate mowing and light grading equipment, basic math for calibration of

Qualifications

High School graduate with landscaping and equipment repair experience.
Valid North Carolina Driver License.
Ability to operate mowing and light grading equipment.
Basic math skills to calibrate pesticide and herbicide applications.
General maintenance knowledge (plumbing, carpentry and painting).
Ability to supervise part-time/seasonal staff.

Responsibilities

Maintains grounds and fields, landscaping, shrubs and trees at all County parks.
Mows, weed eats, seeds and applies fertilizers and chemicals.
Removes leaves and picks up litter and trash.
Maintains trails and walking paths.
Applies gravel and weed control.
Performs basic repairs to fencing, bleachers, buildings and facilities.
Performs basic repairs to and maintains lawn equipment (ie. mowers, weed eaters, blowers).
Prepares sports fields/courts for games (ie. base stobs, pitching, rubbers and homeplate, and tennis/basketball/soccer netting).
Adheres to the department’s safety rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
