Job summary

The Department of General Services (DGS) in Richmond, VA seeks a Parking & Badging Receptionist to provide variegated administrative support and greet customers in a professional manner. The role supports DCSS across 21 parking facilities with over 8,000 spaces.

Responsibilities include handling front-window customer service, phone inquiries, badge processing, fee collection, and daily deposit preparation. This is a general public – G position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Experience with administrative work, including data entry and records management.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Ability to administrate forms/documents based on policy compliance.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage time wisely and successfully handle multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills resulting in positive, helpful, effective oral and written communications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and computational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in partnership with staff.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets, word processors, and email.

The DGS Office of Parking & Badging within the Division of Capital Square Services (DCSS) is looking for a Receptionist. In this role, you will provide variegated administrative support , day-to-day operations support, and greet our customers in a kind and professional manner. DCSS manages 21 parking facilities at the Seat of Government and Westmoreland, totaling over 8,000 parking spaces controlled by the Department of General Services.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers as they approach the front window.
  • Answer phones and respond to verbal and written inquiries concerning parking and badging.
  • Maintain and organize files, badges being picked up by contractors and state employees, and temporary parking hang tags.
  • Assist customers attaining badges. Delivering badges to them and assist DGS badging coordinator.
  • Upkeep badge application counts and daily lot counts from parking attendants.
  • Assist in providing temporary badges and hang tags, ensuring each person has proper identification, credentials, and paperwork for processing.

Minimum Requirements
  • Experience with administrative work, including data entry and records management.

Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position now or in the future. Confirmation of eligibility to work will be required at time of hire.

The selected candidate must also pass a criminal background check.

  • Familiarity with the DGS parking and badging program.
  • Experience preparing bank deposits and receiving checks.

  • Experience serving as a public-facing receptionist.
