Job summary

The Wildlife Society is seeking a Park Program Coordinator to research, coordinate, implement, and evaluate park programs, events, and outreach within the Parks and Recreation Department in San Jose. The position requires experience in planning recreational programs and managing budgets, with a Bachelor's degree and two years in program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Two years of experience coordinating or leading programs, projects, or large events.
  • One year in a specialized park program area may be required for operation of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, organizing, and facilitating park operations and maintenance.
  • Coordinates interactions with partners, volunteers, staff, contractors, licensees, and lease-holders.
  • Plans, coordinates, implements, evaluates, and develops recommendations to improve park programs and events.
  • Schedules, assigns work, trains, and instructs staff, volunteers, and docents.
  • Recruits and evaluates park volunteers, contractors, and docents.
  • Assists in developing service agreements and contracts and monitors progress.
  • Collaborates with field operations and agencies to secure programs and special events.
  • Explains park policies to partners and others under agreements or contracts.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports related to departmental programs; may present to groups.
  • Reviews materials for marketing, information, or education purposes.
  • Manages supply orders and inventory for programs and events.
