Job summary

Maricopa County’s Parks and Recreation Department seeks a Park Supervisor to lead daily park operations, including administrative and maintenance activities, recreation services, and resource protection. You will supervise staff, oversee special events, and coordinate with multiple agencies to ensure safe, high-quality visitor experiences.

The role emphasizes budgetary oversight, program development, and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance park facilities and trails across the county.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in a park or related recreation field.
• One year of supervisory experience (preferably within a park or recreation environment).
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise the daily operation of a regional park and its services, facilities, and activities; oversee park programs and amenities, including special use events, resources protection, trails, campgrounds, and park safety.
• Protect and manage park resources; provide operational oversight; collect fees; ensure compliance with park rules; respond to emergencies; coordinate with law enforcement.
• Oversee park safety and risk management programs; supervise, hire, evaluate, and train staff and volunteers; set schedules and assignments.
• Coordinate maintenance duties; identify, prioritize, and delegate repairs; inspect facilities and utilities.
• Oversee revenue-generating operations; manage budgets; monitor financial performance; support long-range planning.
• Serve as liaison with stakeholders and agencies regarding park operations and resource stewardship.
