Job summary

The City of Columbia SC is seeking a Parks Maintenance Supervisor to assist with operation and maintenance of Finlay Park and related facilities. You will direct, coordinate and participate in maintenance, repair and construction projects, and oversee groundskeeping and landscaping to keep park areas attractive, clean, and safe.

Under general supervision, the incumbent develops work methods, schedules, and priorities; leads staff; maintains safety standards; and coordinates with the public and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of relevant prior experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Directs the safe operation and maintenance of power and hand tools and equipment.
• Maintains park facilities for use by the public; prepares park facilities for daily use; cleans and sets up facilities as reserved; repairs damaged equipment and structures.
• Plans and implements daily duties for staff.
• Establishes priorities for completion of work in accordance with sound time management methodology.
• Projects time necessary for completion of tasks and schedules accordingly.
• Instructs, supervises and performs routine maintenance on grounds.
• Maintains a safe work environment.
• Manages specific operational activities including public use areas, retail operations and facilities.
