Job summary

The City of Columbia SC is seeking a Parks Maintenance Assistant to assist with the operation and upkeep of Three Rivers Greenway and City park facilities. You will direct, coordinate and participate in maintenance, repair and construction on grounds and facilities, ensuring cleanliness, safety and attractiveness for the public.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, planning daily duties, and communicating with the public about flora, fauna and park activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of relevant prior experience preferred.
• Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Directs the safe operation and maintenance of power and hand tools and equipment.
• Maintains park facilities for public use and prepares facilities for daily use.
• Plans and assigns daily duties for staff and establishes priorities.
• Inspects parks and facilities to identify problems or safety hazards and ensures compliance with SOPs.
• Performs general maintenance, grounds upkeep and customer service duties, including answering questions and providing information.
