Job summary

The Kumbrabow State Forest division of the Parks and Recreation Department of the State of West Virginia seeks a Classified-Exempt employee to perform a broad range of maintenance and public-facing tasks. Responsibilities include groundskeeping, vehicle maintenance, and basic repairs across forest facilities.

Work involves interaction with the public, enforcing park rules, and completing tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in building and grounds maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to operate a range of motorized equipment.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks on buildings and forest facilities.
• Mow, trim, and maintain grounds and landscapes.
• Operate tractors, mowers, and other equipment.
• Assist with fire control and waste collection.
• Inspect and repair plumbing, electrical, and carpentry as needed.
• Provide public information and enforce park rules.
